The answers to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), as provided below are generally generic. Each Caravan club is autonomous and have their own rules.

Why should I join a Caravan Club?
A caravan is a significant investment to have sitting idly. Why let it sit in the back yard and only use it once a year for the annual holiday?
Join a caravan club, and not only will you get more use out of your van, you will also get to meet and make new friends.
Those new to caravanning will be able to draw on a wealth of knowledge from more experienced caravanners, whilst meeting other club members and going to new places.
How do I find a club that I can join?
Clubs are listed in two ways:

- Clubs are also listed on the Affiliated Club Regions page allowing you to find the clubs closest to you

How do I join the CCQ?
The CCQ is not a club as such.
It is the State Association for Caravan Clubs in Queensland an umbrella organisation representing all the Affiliated Caravan Clubs in Queensland.

Are there any limitations on the type of caravan or RV when joining a club?
Some clubs have restrictions, this will vary from club to club.
Most clubs have specific rules on what constitutes an appropriate caravan or RV.
Icons on each Club page will depict the type of caravan or RV accepted by the club.
What age group are the club members?
Members come from all age groups and all walks of life.
However, the majority are approaching retirement age or over.
We have teenage children can they be members?
Members’ children under 17 years of age are considered part of the family unit.
Children over 17 years may be required to join as Associate Members.
We have an old van, would we be looked down upon for not having a modern one?
Absolutely not.
There are a lot of older caravans in the clubs. You would be welcome in all clubs.
We don’t own a caravan, can we join a club as an associate member?
Generally; No.
This rule will vary from club to club.
However, previous club members who no longer own a caravan are usually accepted as associate members.
We want to travel around Australia, should we join a club before we go?
If you are new to caravanning it would be advisable.
A newbee to caravanning can learn a lot in general from club members.
Many club members have done the big loop and can advise you on many aspects and the journey.
How much does it cost to be in a club?
Costs vary from club to club.
Clubs charge a one-off joining fee and an annual membership fee which covers the cost of a monthly newsletter and club running costs.
There is also the camping fee cost charged by the venue at which the rally is held.
Fees are kept to minimum as all clubs are incorporated and classed as being a non-profit organisation.
Is there any requirement on the type of tow vehicle?
A club does not stipulate the type of tow vehicle that is required.
By law the tow vehicle must be suitable, and set up correctly for the towed unit.
Do club members have to wear a uniform?
This will vary from club to club. Most clubs have a uniform.
Some may ask that it be worn at every rally, others only on special occasions or on a particular day of the rally.
Do I have to join the club nearest to where I live?
No.
There are no residential requirements for club membership.
You are welcome to join any club that suits you. Providing there are vacancies.
Some members travel many more kilometres than other members when attending a rally.
Do clubs accept singles?
Yes.
Clubs are non-discriminatory. Singles are welcome in all clubs.
However, some clubs may not have any singles at the time so you may like to check with the Club Secretary.
Can I take my pet to a club rally?
This will vary from club to club. Not all clubs are pet friendly.
Clubs that allow pets have strict rules such as:
- Pets must be kept on a leash at all times
- Pets are not allowed in the general meeting area or where food is being prepared or consumed
- Owners of pets are responsible for the pets in aspects
Are there restrictions as to which club I can join?
Generally: No.
Some clubs are manufacturer specific; meaning that you must own that brand of caravan or RV.
Some clubs have capped membership numbers and may not have vacancies from time to time.
Why are clubs affiliated with the CCQ?
There are many benefits for Clubs, as well as members, when a Caravan Club is affiliated.

Does the CCQ offer discounted insurance cover for my caravan?
No.
The CCQ and the clubs do have Public Liability insurance.
Does a club have to be incorporated to become affiliated?
Yes.
Where are rallies held?
Venues include:
- Caravan Parks
- Showgrounds
- Scout Grounds
- Recreation Grounds
- Other venues that can accommodate the club
Rally venues depend on a number of factors including:
- Clubs select the venues of their choice
- The capacity of the venue to accommodate the number of members attending a rally
- Costs
- Distance from where the club is based
- Some venues are not open to the general public
What does it cost to attend a rally?
There will often be two costs to be met.
The major cost for the rally will be campsite fees, paid to the management of the venue.
The other being rally or club fees which will vary from club to club and rally to rally. These fees cover catering, entertainment or activities that may be provided for the rally.
What do you do at a rally?
Clubs have a wide variety of activities including but not limited to:
- Visiting local attractions
- Participating in games and other activities organised by the club
- Relaxing and enjoying the company of other members.
- Film evenings
- Camp fire meals
- Happy Hours
We have school age children, can we go to a rally for the weekend only?
Yes.
Members can arrive and depart any time they wish.
Most club rallies now run from mid week to mid week, although the official dates of most club rallies are for the weekend.
How often are rallies held?
Club rallies are usually held every month.
All clubs set their own calendar.
State Caravan Rallies are held annually in a different location and hosted by different clubs under the guidance of the CCQ.
National Caravan Rallies are held every three years, on a rotational basis, in one of the five mainland states.
How long does a rally go for?
Clubs set their own rally date and duration.
Most run for a period up to a week , some times longer.
Roving rallies can run from a week to a month or more
How far do we have to travel to attend a rally?
Clubs choose their own rally venues.
Venues are generally chosen within 300 km of the club base.
Do we have to go to every rally?
No.
Some clubs have a minimum yearly attendance rule.
Can non members attend a rally?
No.
This is due to Public Liability Insurance regulations.
But as a prospective club member you may attend.
Prospective club member may attend a rally at the invitation of the rally committee only.
Only members of affiliated caravan clubs can attend a State or National caravan Rally.
Can we bring our grandchildren to a rally?
Yes.
Children are welcome in all clubs.
Be aware that at some venues, there may be additional camping fees for extra people.
