PRA No. 2019/17292 Date published 29 Jan 2019
Campaign number RS10014
A small electronic device that regulates and actuates the electric brakes of a trailer and allows the driver to activate and monitor trailer brake activity from the cab of the vehicle.
What are the defects?
Where the installation has not been carried out in accordance with the product manual, using dedicated wiring from a single battery supply, there is potential at any time for no trailer brake output indicated by a flashing yellow/red warning lamp.
What are the hazards?
When towing, the braking distance of the tow vehicle and trailer may be increased and that could lead to a risk of a car accident.
